Again to Carthage by John L Parker is the long-awaited sequel to the author’s novel Once a Runner (it came out over 30 years after the original!). In this one, fictional runner Quenton Cassidy is back and has a new tale of his pursuit of greatness. Much like his first go-around, Parker fully captures the embodiment of a distance runner in Cassidy, again making this work of fiction seem incredibly real. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book (it was worth the wait!) and try and read it once a year along with the first in the duo when I need a little something extra to light my fire.
