I had a recent realization–that most trucker-style hats are just made of polyester and could be used as running hats no problem. They also tend to breathe better because they often have mesh and are generally a LOT cheaper than a hat specifically designed as a “running” hat. I decided to try out my theory when I purchased this hat and have been super pleased with the result.
This hat was cheap, looks super fly, and works just as well (or better) than any running hat I’ve previously worn. It’s bright, which helps with visibility, it absorbs a good deal of sweat, the back half is mesh so it breathes well, and the brim is fairly big which helps keep the sun out of my face (the main reason I started wearing running hats to begin with).
I was a little concerned that this particular bright colored hat would bleed when I sweat, but have had no issues with that whatsoever.
I have been so pleased with this result that I may never purchase a traditional running hat again. The cheap trucker hat is the way to go!
