I’ve been wanting to try a pair of Hoka One One shoes for quite some time now… Anyone I had ever spoken to that had tried them just raved about how comfy they were and how much they loved them. As of today, I have just a hair under 280 miles on them so far and they are still feeling wonderful. They are light, uber comfy, and just a smooth ride.

I’ve ran these in lots of terrain so far, from grass, dirt trail, rocky trail, lots of pavement, to gravel back roads–all felt great in these shoes. Although rather “chunky” trainers, they are light and snappy enough for tempo and speed work. I haven’t done any races in them, but I have done plenty of speed workouts and they’ve held up great.

They also feature a super thin, cloth-like tongue, which the newest Newton Gravity also featured. I like it a lot–it seems to stay put better (doesn’t ride down), and it’s also comfortable.

I plan to put quite a few more miles on these shoes–my only regret is that once I finally got around to running in these, the Clifton 2 came out about a week into training in them. Hopefully this review still has some value for some, and hopefully I can try out the next version soon-ish too!
