I just saw Hydrive Energy Water at my local grocery store (Kroger), and although I don’t drink any type of these regularly (just a single cup o coffee will usually do me just fine), I do like to try out different ones occasionally. It says it’s bottled by All Sport, which I didn’t even realize was still around (I remember enjoying their carbonated electrolyte drink as a young athlete.).

This one contains about the same amount as a cup of coffee. But the depiction on the bottle is a little misleading–the graphic (below, center) displays 83 mg for an 8oz serving of Hydrive, however, the serving size is one whole bottle, which is just under 16 oz. So even though the graphic seems to imply that the amount of caffeine is half that of a cup of coffee, it actually seems the same. Not the biggest deal, but still kind of confusing. Overall the pick-me-up felt comparable to a cup of coffee and it sat well in my empty stomach for a morning jog.

Flavor-wise it’s like a sugary orange juice-esque flavor–pretty sweet, but with no actual juice. I liked it in general.

Overall it was an okay drink, and at 30 calories it total, it could have been worse. It also contains a bunch of vitamins and minerals, which are good, right? However, the ingredients are an array of hard to pronounce and otherwise chemical-sounding preservatives. It was fine but for the most part these drinks aren’t my thing.
