This Men’s Ignitor Short Sleeve Tee is a pretty standard looking (although I’m definitely digging this stonewashed-looking “Redwood” color) tech t-shirt. It’s light, somewhat fitted, and very comfortable. The color is definitely fun and seemingly fashionable (not that I am at all an expert on such things).

It’s main selling point is that it’s treated with “Polygiene”, which is supposed to be an anti-bacterial agent so that you can get multiple uses from the piece of clothing before it really starts to smell from body odor and/or other grime.

Now I’m fairly confident that I’m no stinkier than the next fellow, and although I admit I do sweat a good deal once I get going, I’m not so sure this Polygiene stuff is the next big thing.

For my first trial I wore the shirt for a short 2 mile run, nothing very sweaty at all. I wore it again the next day for a 3 mile run and early on I could already tell the shirt was slightly smelly. It wasn’t just a normal body odor smell, but slightly chemical in nature. I washed the shirt and tried again, and confirmed the smell with a running partner.

So I’m not at all sold on the Polygiene, and if that’s what makes a polyester shirt cost nearly $50, then I really don’t see that it’s worth it. However, the shirt IS definitely comfortable and I will continue to use and wear it as I would any other polyester tech shirt for running–most of the time just getting a single use out of it before throwing it in the laundry.
