Prefontaine is one of two Hollywood movies (the other is Without Limits) that chronicles the life of 1970’s American distance running phenom Steve Prefontaine.
Prefontaine stars Jared Leto as Steve Prefontaine and R. Lee Ermey as his coach (at Oregon University) Bill Bowerman.
This movie mixes standard fictional-style acting with faux-documentary segments throughout where people discuss various aspects of their personal involvement with the runner.
Although both movies about Steve Prefontaine I found entertaining and I recommend seeing both at some point, Without Limits is slightly better. The faux-documentary segments in this version are a little dry at time.
