Duel in the Sun (full title: Duel in the Sun: The Story of Alberto Salazar, Dick Beardsley, and America’s Greatest Marathon) is the full play-by-play of the famed 1982 Boston Marathon where Salazar and Beardsley went head-to-head in a thrilling and gutsy showdown. Prior to reading this book I did not know the story of this race and Brant’s details made me feel like I was there. This was one of the best full accounts of a race that I have read.
