In the Long Run by Bob Schul (with help from Laura Rentz Krause) is a really fun biography of 1960’s American distance runner Bob Schul.  Prior to reading this book, I had never heard of him nor knew nothing about him (my only excuse is that I’m too young…).  This book discusses Schul’s battle to a 1964 Tokyo Olympics Gold in the 5000 and all of the work leading up to it, starting with his youth.  There are some really good race recaps and training details that I really found entertaining.

The downside is that I’ve had trouble finding copies of this book for others.  It may be out of print, so check your second-hand sources!
