The Gingersnap Waffle from Honey Stinger is the newest flavor to an already great-tasting line of waffles. It’s hard to rank which flavor is my favorite, because I really have found them all to be delightful (including Strawberry, which I don’t seem to have a review up for, apparently).

Like their other waffles, Gingersnap has great flavor, with the ginger blending well with the honey. I like them as both pre and post run fuel. They don’t seem to upset my stomach even if I eat them pretty close to the time I run (an easy run, I haven’t really tried with a harder workout). They are on the drier side (not in a bad way at all), so I’d recommend having water nearby to help wash it down.

They aren’t really ideal for during-workouts except perhaps in a bicycle pack–they are about palm-sized and wouldn’t carry well for a run. Overall great tasting and a nice, sweet snack that is on the healthier side.

  1. I really like the honey stinger waffles a lot. I eat them often if I am going to do a longer run in the morning before work and don’t have time to eat a good breakfast and give it time to settle. I do like the gingersnap flavor. I would recommend giving it a try if you like anything to do with ginger. But honey is still my favorite flavor of these. I can’t have caffeine though so those are my only two options. My stomach tends to handle the waffle before a run a lot better than taking a gel during the run. If I take the waffle on an empty stomach I can normally run almost right away and I have run 8-10 miles without having to refuel as long as I have water.
