The Capital City River Run Half Marathon, with well over 1500 finishers, has become a premiere fall event for the Lansing area.

The expo has been lacking (with most vendors seemingly just looking to sell me stuff), but everything else is pretty stellar.  The in-race support and atmosphere are both pretty good as well as the post-race festivities (there has been lots of pizza in the past).

The highlight of this event is the course, which is primarily on the Lansing River Trail, which consists of mainly boardwalk and paved paths.  It’s very scenic and pretty much flat.  The race course goes through several of Lansing’s parks, including Potter Park, Hawk Island Park, Scott Woods, Park, and the Red Cedar Natural Area.

This is definitely a race that I will continue to do.
