The Nathan LightBender is a light-up arm band for the sake increased visibility and increased safety.  Lighting-wise, I think this one is great. I use it in conjunction with the LightSpur and it’s a pretty solid combo for increasing your visibility.

However, it wasn’t comfortable in the sense that I couldn’t get it to stay put. It attaches with a velcro elastic strap, which I had a hard time getting perfectly secure around my pretty minimal bicep. No offense to middle school girls out there, but we have pretty similar arms… That being said, the armband would move around quite a bit, even over a tshirt. It never fell off or anything, because my bent arm pretty much prevented that, but it was definitely always noticeable.

I’ll be trying this one out so more to see if I can get it better situated, otherwise I’ll be sticking to other lighting products.

Specs from Nathan:

  • Comfortable armband and super lightweight technology ensure no chafing or discomfort
  • Multi-settings for blinking or steady stream lights
  • Completely waterproof so you can run longer in any weather
  • Powered with easily replaceable watch battery

  1. Running in the dark always causes me concern, I never had many reflective things. So I got this and the heel Lightspur and I normally wear them together, even though just one of them by themselves would be fine. This lights up nice and bright. It can either stay as a solid light or blink. I normally like the blinking, but don’t look at it too long or it can disorient you! I normally wear it on my right arm around my bicep. I have small arms, but I was still able to adjust it so that it fits snug and does not fall down. I find the price reasonable for what it is. And the battery is supposed to last for a very long time, so you should not have to worry about it dying anytime soon.
